In many ways, things have been disappointing. Things have, seemingly, been floating in mediocrity, and discussions about things in the real world have been more about the fact that we should talk about things going on in the real world, than the real world itself. We visited a painting show together. We thought the show was bad, so we left.
 
We sat in a bar and talked about the bad painting show. No one had anything particularly interesting to say, but someone was able to place the show into a historical context that somehow made it seem less atrocious. Looking at it through this other lens, it became apparent that the motifs in the paintings carried a message that was actually pretty activist.

This, of course, could only be regarded as a good thing.
But still, things don’t sit right with this show, so we abandoned the conversation about the bad painting show to talk about other things. More fun, not entirely satisfying.
 
We should get back to the fact that we were in a bar to talk about something.
